Types of Mesothelioma

Diffuse cancerous mesothelioma falls into three main histological types like epithelioid, sarcomatoid and biphasic. Among these three types the most commonly occurring cancer type is epitheloid. The biphasic includes both the epitheloid and sarcomatoid; hence it is also termed as mixed type. The epithelial variety displays several patterns including tubulopapillary and glandular, since they predominantly affects those cell’s morphological patterns. The cancerous fibres usually migrate from visceral pleura to parietal pleura of the lung cavity, and then from parietal pleura the fibres travel through lymphatic nodes. The black spots located within the lymphatic vessels are used to absorb the tumor fibres. The tumor cells also jaunts from the lungs to the abdominal cavity. Asbestos is a complete carcinogen, which is capable of causing mesothelioma. The mechanism of cancerous transformation is not fully understood. Initially, after ingestion of asbestos within the body it travels through the mucosa of the intestinal tract, causing peritoneal mesothelioma. Mesothelioma cell lines are generally more resistant to the cytotoxic effects of a stimulant stress to programmed cell death than normal cells of the body.
